Guidelines and Netiquette
The NYSASA Email Group is an on-line discussion area, where opinions and differences of opinion are welcome. Challenging or attacking others is not appropriate.
Selling and marketing are not permitted, so do not post commercial messages. Feel free, nonetheless, to discuss specific products or services, but remember that your comments are made in the public domain. You are accordingly responsible for your comments just as if they were made in a live discussion or a printed publication.
Posting defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials is strictly prohibited. Do not post anything in a message that you would not want the public to see or that you would not want them to know came from you.
Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that it owns the copyright or has received permission from the copyright owner. In addition, the posting party grants NYSASA and users of the list the non-exclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use the information or other material.
When posting a message, always include your name, organization, and a phone number as a “signature.” Please be sure to clearly identify the topic of your message in the subject line. Use plain text format when sending messages. Pictures, fancy script and other embellishments to your test often cannot be read by other Email systems.
When replying to a message, include only the parts of the previous message that are pertinent to your comment. When possible, delete the header information from the previous message to make the message easier to read. When replying to a question, include the original question or give some context to your remarks.
The NYSASA Email Group is provided as a service of the New York State Association of School Attorneys (NYSASA), and hosted by the Western New York Regional Information Center (WNYRIC) in conjunction with the Erie 1 BOCES Labor Relations Service. Although the WNYRIC takes the normal and reasonable precautions in securing its system, WNYRIC/Erie 1 BOCES and NYSASA accept no responsibility for the security or confidentiality of the content of E-mail messages on the system. WNYRIC/Erie 1 BOCES and NYSASA cannot assure the longevity of electronic mail records for record-keeping purposes. Any messages that you want to keep should be saved to your own computer. WNYRIC/Erie 1 BOCES and NYSASA assume no responsibility for the transmission of viruses between members of the Listserv. Participants are responsible for maintaining their own anti-virus software.
WNYRIC/Erie 1 BOCES and NYSASA accept no responsibility for the opinions and information posted on the site by others. The WNYRIC/Erie 1 BOCES and NYSASA disclaim all warranties with regard to information posted, whether posted by NYSASA or any third party; this disclaimer includes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness.
In no event shall WNYRIC/Erie 1 BOCES or NYSASA be liable for special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information posted on the site. WNYRIC/Erie 1 BOCES and NYSASA do not actively monitor the site for inappropriate postings and do not undertake editorial control of postings. However, in the event that any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of WNYRIC/Erie 1 BOCES or NYSASA, appropriate action will be taken. NYSASA reserves the right to terminate access to any user who does not abide by these guidelines.
NYSASA will not sell or transmit the Email address of individuals participating in its Listserv to third parties. It may, however, periodically send electronic messages about NYSASA events or announcements to members of the Listserv. By participating in the Listserv, you agree to periodically receive these messages from NYSASA.
